The Niagara Spears Cheerleaders are an integral part of the Niagara Spears Football Organization and the entertainment during home games and some away games. When not cheering for the yrs,d on the playing field, members of the Spears Cheerleading teams serve as goodwill ambassadors for the Spears by participating in various community events and volunteer experiences throughout the Niagara Region. In previous seasons, the girls have performed at Football Niagara Days, Hamilton Ti-Cat Games, the Special Olympics, the Fit for the Future Expo and numerous parades.
The Niagara Spears Cheerleaders are the premier cheerleading squad in the Ontario Varsity Football League. National Champions, Amanda and Jo-Anne D’Amboise are the head coaches and program directors. They serve as executive consultants on cheerleading to the OVFL and assist in forming new cheerleading teams in the league within the province. They have brought their expertise and emphasis on crowd appeal to the Niagara Spears organization since its inception in 2004. 2008 marks their fifth season with the Spears.
2008 has been the most successful season for the
Niagara Spears Cheerleaders. Not only does the
team feature 51 athletes from more than
20 area schools, but the athletes are also the most
talented group yet. By cheering the Spears on at
home games and being actively involved in the
community, the cheerleaders are having the ultimate
summer experience. 2008 also marks the first year
the Niagara Spears Cheerleaders will be holding a “Great Pajama Party” in which the girls will be holding a pajama party to collect new pajamas and storybooks to be donated to those in need.
Tradition is paramount to the Niagara Spears Cheerleading Team – if you’re not familiar with “Who’s House?”, Another One Bites The Dust, We Will Rock You or “Let’s Get Fired Up” – upon joining, you will be!
Each summer, the program also offers a Junior Cheerleader program for those stars of tomorrow ages 3 to 12 years of age! This energetic and fun program allows youths to perform with the Niagara Spears Cheerleaders at a home game.
